KYB has a global reputation for world class automotive suspension.
Vehicle manufacturers across the world trust KYB to manufacture the shock absorbers for their new vehicles. KYB has 15 factories which are strategically placed to support vehicle production.
KYB manufactures a wide range of specialist shock absorbers for the Original Equipment market.
This KYB technology, already appreciated by many of our customers, allows us to maximize comfort settings, achieving smooth and pleasant road contact whilst at the same time the car body movements are controlled. Additionally, all unpleasant noises caused by road impacts are filtered by absorbing the wheel energy before the shock absorber stroke ends.
The KYB IDC continuous variable damping shock absorber has been supplied for several models in Europe and Japan for almost a decade, increasing it’s presence not only in the high end but also in the mid segment markets. The high performance hydraulics from the KYB Group with a very fast reaction electro-magnetic system ensures the best wheel and body comfort and maximum safety during sudden manoeuvres at any time. The portfolio is fully covered by a single external, internal valve or double external independent rebound / compression valves.
KYB does not only offer the complete actuation dampers, but a whole system, also in use for several years. The system, which is based on a Sky-hook car body control concept, analyses inputs from the road and the driver, rapidly deciding how each damper and actuator should be tuned in order to achieve the maximum body and wheel comfort, ensuring driving pleasure and prioritising safety when needed.
The system is customised by the driver, selecting either comfort, normal or sport modes, to enjoy the ride under any conditions.
KYB supports it’s OE customers in a scalable way, offering from the actuation only to the complete system, with KYB’s own control strategy (proven and recognised by the market) or integrating the customer’s own.

Very low velocity, around zero, is a key parameter each time the wheel changes direction from rebound to compression and vice-versa. In this area, hydraulics and friction need to work together and be optimised together for each vehicle. KYB’s Prosmooth is a new product which by controlling the friction level and shape, enhances the smooth ride and a rapid steering response at same time.
KYB’s ADC frequency dependent damper is the second generation of the well known Harmofrec solution which has been appreciated in various series by several customers during recent years. ADC effectiveness and response is demonstrated in the complete velocity range, automatically adapting the damping forces in the whole range between hard and soft modes and depending on the frequency at which the wheel moves. In this way, the low frequency movements, such as pitching or rolling, can be stopped with a hard damping, while the high frequency wheel oscillations are filtered with a lower damping ensuring maximum comfort. The ADC system is a simple structure with an innovative effect not only in the rebound but also in the compression forces.
