It’s in our DNA

1952

In the 1950s, we transformed motorcycle suspension by replacing traditional spring-type front forks with an integrated-damper design, borrowing technology from automotive shock absorbers and setting a new standard for ride performance.

1974

In 1974, KYB launches the production of aluminium outer tube front forks for motorcycles, introducing a lighter alternative to traditional steel components. This innovation not only improved handling and suspension performance, but also set a new standard for motorcycle design and technology at the time.

1988

KYB start manufacturing inverted front forks for motorcycles, introducing a design that increased rigidity – therefore enhancing handling and stability, particularly in high-speed or aggressive riding conditions.

2002

KYB begins production of DLC-coated (diamond-like carbon) front forks for motorcycles, achieving both hardness and low-friction properties comparable to a diamond. This technology was implemented in the front forks of supersport bikes, as well as in motocross bikes, where exceptional performance is essential under demanding conditions.

2013

KYB Corporation and Yamaha Motor Co. Ltd. form a jointly owned business – KYB Motorcycle Suspension Co. Ltd, to develop advanced suspension systems for Yamaha motorcycles.

2016

KYB Motorcycle Suspension (KMS) sponsors the Tech3 team, supporting their campaign in the Moto2 Championship.

2021

KYB launches the Actimatic Damper System (KADS), an advanced electronic suspension for motorcycles. Featured on the Yamaha Tracer 9 GT, it enhances stability and comfort by adjusting damping in real-time using sensors and a control unit.
